I have very little knowledge of blogging, wikis, podcasts, and making movies etc. so I am looking forward to learning more in order to help my students get more excited about writing by using technology in the classroom.

Its nice to have time to work on new technology. So often trainings are set up for after school when we are tired from the days teaching and then only have a couple of hours to get to know and learn new programs. I’m looking forward to our week together.

I have dabbled in a number of programs and hope to gain more practical experience and instructional ideas to bring additional technology into classroom. The goal is for instruction to be real and relevant to students.

It is the little things that often seem to be huge obstacles in implementation. I am so thrilled with yesterday’s session. The quick instruction on microphones and voice recording in MovieMaker just pushed me over a hurdle toward a great student project. Thanks!

It is exciting and fun to be in the company of so many great teachers who are interested in technology and writing. I have a lot to learn as a relative tech novice. I am eager to implement blogs, wikis, and podcasts in the simplest forms possible in my fourth grade class this year. Kids are going to be very enthusiastic about having the chance to use these “new” tools.

I came to the A3WP Summer Technology Institute with a lot of curiosity and a desire to learn, but without a great deal of experience. My hope is I will learn enough so I can continue to evolve as an educator in order to meet my students’ needs.

After taking your class in blogs at CTAP, I have been waiting for the chance to expand by third graders reading and writing abilities. I believe that blogs will do just that. This will be the first blog at our school, I’m real excited to get this set up and use it in September! I’ve got lots of questions.

Not only do I look forward to the new technology information to use in my classroom, I am thoroughly enjoying the dialog that takes place among these professionals. The sparks of creativity that fly give me so much to ponder. I do wish that I could bottle up the collective experience, personality, and humor to replay at those times throughout a school year when I need a shot of inspiration.

Thanks for orchestrating this class and facilitating our learning. You are a precious friend.

I bring with me a variety of different technology experiences that are not in the classroom. Since the last time I had my own class, 4 years ago, I’ve taken several CTAP on-line classes. I hope to continue my education of technology and how to use it with students. Hopefully I will be able to apply this knowledge when I get my own class.

I am a reading teacher, and I want to think about ways to extend my students’ confidence and competence. Yesterday’s discussion of the digital stories helped me see how to help students both visualize and gain some distance from their writing. This was helpful.

My goal is less to become competent in these technologies than to see the possibilities and listen to Gail talk. You know so much, Gail…and I need to learn so much.

By the end of the week, I want to be able to add “Note to Teacher” boxes on the materials I produce that say something like “If you have access to ___________, you may want to consider establishing a class wiki to post and share the information that the students uncover.” or “You may want to have your students write blogs about this information. Talk with your tech support staff about setting up safe student blogs.”

I just want to know what’s out there, and to make connections with the curriculum that we have. So far, it’s been MOST interesting — and I’m reading Sara Kajter’s (sp) book.

I bring to this workshop a very basic knowledge of MovieMaker and helping students tell their digital stories. Through the work last year with DOLCHE and SEVAs, I have been made aware of the need to have technology in the classroom, whether I am ready for it or not! What I am hoping to get from this class is the ability to create a classroom blog and learn about podcasting as a tool for my students to be heard.
